In most cases, a straightforward wet room conversion within an existing bathroom does not require building regulations approval. However, building regulations may apply if:

  • You are creating a wet room in a space that was not previously a bathroom
  • Structural changes are needed to the floor to create the required gradient
  • New drainage is being installed
  • Electrical work is being carried out (must be done by a qualified electrician or certified under a Competent Person scheme)

Ambient Bathrooms will advise on whether building control notification is needed for your specific project.
